Introduction

The variable quality of water used in heat exchange equipment can affect the cost of operating such plant and eventually results in catastrophic failure. H₂O Chemicals are well versed in the options available both for restoring plant to full efficiency by cleaning and maintaining heat exchange plant at design values by chemical treatment.

Reasons

Small amounts of scale and corrosion deposits can reduce the bore of pipes increasing pumping costs and reducing efficiency. Reduction in heat transfer rapidly increases operating costs. Bacteria, including Legionella, can be associated with deposits using them as protection from a hostile environment as well as gaining nutrients from the deposit matrix.

A careful assessment of the nature of the fouling along with detailed examination of the plant will lead to the most appropriate process to be specified. This may be acid cleaning, polymer circulation, static or dynamic flushing or a combination of these. Once the process is specified the work will be undertaken with careful attention to Health and Safety.
