Monitoring and Risk Assessment

Introduction

Monitoring and Risk Assessment

Water Quality is the subject of close scrutiny and Water Hygiene is of particular concern. Legionella continues to be found in water services and the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) requires a detailed Risk Assessment to minimise or eliminate the risk from this bacteria. ACoP L8 goes on to detail the requirements of a monitoring and record keeping regime.

Reasons

The Risk Assessment should take account of "the potential for droplet formation, water temperatures, the likely risk to those who will inhale water droplets and the means of preventing or controlling the risk". The ACoP explains that persons who carry out the assessment and who draw up and implement precautionary measures should "have such ability, experience, instruction, information, training and resources as to allow them to carry out their tasks competently and safely".

Our Service

H2O Chemicals Ltd undertake a thorough examination of all water services and present a detailed final report which addresses the key areas of:

  • monitoring and on-going maintenance
  • immediate remedial work - high priority
  • longer term remedial work - lower priority

The report is supported by photographic records of all items of plant inspected (where possible). The report includes hazard ratings where appropriate and "as-seen" schematics and therefore provide the basic information for compilation of the required Log Book.

Our service also includes detailed monitoring packages including:

  • temperature monitoring
  • microbiological monitoring
  • Legionella analysis
  • biofouling monitoring
