Values & Policies

We have worked hard to distil our values into our ‘Values Wheel’. This succinctly shows what is important to us. We strive to achieve success but success means different things to each of us. We allow individuals to define what success means to them and this allows teams to decide what success means to them. This creates flexibility and allows individuals to make decisions which are best for them as well as the customer at the point of delivery.

Of the values surrounding success we believe that most important of all is Customer Service, we define this as:

Satisfying customers’ needs and meeting their rising expectations by fully utilising the knowledge, skills, behaviours and energy of all our team members

Closely related to customer service is Competence. We have been committed to Investors in People for many years and have won the ‘Outstanding Investor in People’ award as well as achieving the ‘Leadership and Management’ award. It is a well-worn phrase to state that ‘our people are our greatest asset’ but we continually invest in training and development at every level in the company. We define competence as:

The acquisition of knowledge skills and abilities at a level of expertise sufficient to be able to perform in an appropriate work setting

Our third value of Commitment includes commitment to our customers and commitment to each other. This commitment is from the company to the employee and the employee to the company. It is espoused in our policies which are grouped under the theme ‘Working with Integrity’:

Our behaviour towards each other is as important as the way we behave with our customers’

This allows us to define acceptable behaviours which inform the decisions which lead to success, it also gives us permission to challenge unacceptable behaviours wherever we encounter them.

Quality

From our very beginnings, quality has permeated everything H2O Chemicals do. We gained BS5750 (precursor to ISO9000) in 1996 and our current accreditation to ISO 9001 covers every aspect of our work. Not only supply but design of products and services are included in our accreditation. Our quality systems drive continuous improvement resulting in the many innovations we have and continue to introduce. H2O Chemicals are ideally placed to help our customers take advantage of the changing conditions in the business and H&S environment.

Protecting the Environment

Our ISO 14001 accreditation drives control by managing our impact on the environment. We provide local teams to deliver our full range of services. We minimise fuel use by ensuring we track miles driven. The use of paper based systems taking up valuable space is a thing of the past. We minimise paper use by effective use of Information Technology. All H2O Chemicals technicians are equipped with XDAs to ensure communication doesn’t depend on paper. The use of Electronic Log Books throughout our customer base means that H2O Chemicals clients eliminate paper usage and regain the extra space which was previously assigned to record storage. Our systems are simple, reliable and accessible and are available on a web based platform. Chemical products are selected based on their environmental impact and as a business with a chemical heritage we understand the impacts chemicals can make.

Health & Safety

We put H&S at the beginning of everything we do and have worked hard to create and maintain a true H&S culture. The safety of our staff and those around them, the safety of the work we do and the environments in which we work, are of paramount importance to everything we do. Whatever the situation, you can be confident that we will always put H&S considerations before all else. Our H&S policy with its acronym SMILE - Systems-Materials-Information-Location-Environment, engages not only our staff but customers too. H2O Chemicals' Health and Safety training division delivers a range of in-house courses and is accredited to deliver the range of IOSH courses. All of our staff are required to pass those courses relevant to their role and all managers hold the IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
