Going the extra mile!
The Customer
The customer in this instance is a multinational hotel chain, with over 120 hotels in 19 different countries.
Our Relationship
H2O Chemicals was contracted to carry out Legionella Risk Assessments in hotels across England, Scotland, and Wales. However, we literally went the extra mile(s) to complete additional work at two of the company’s hotels in Paris; venturing into Europe for the very first time!
What we did
From the offset H2O Chemicals responded to the client’s schedules, conducting Risk Assessments at two hotels in London at short notice in order to ensure the validity of the Assessment’s two year review period. The ACoP L8 (clause 38) states that Legionella Risk Assessments must be reviewed every two years in order to ensure their accuracy and identify any new potential risks. Following on from our timely response in London we were then asked to carry out the additional Risk Assessments in Paris! A previous water supplier had conducted the assessments twelve months prior to this, but the hotels never received a copy of the assessment. Again, in order to fully comply with the ACoP L8 a copy of the Risk Assessment must remain on site, and any recommendations should be acted upon as soon as possible to minimise the risk from legionella. After checking that our insurance would be valid outside the UK, a member of staff was commissioned to travel to Paris at short notice to begin work at the hotels. We directly liaised with the hotel managers in order to organise a work schedule that would keep costs for the company at a minimum and at the same time meet the urgency of the work requirement. The Risk Assessments were carried out on two consecutive days, with one night’s stay at one of the hotels in question. Our member of staff worked flexible hours in order to cut labour costs for the client and to incorporate travel time from London to Paris via the Eurostar. Written work for the Risk Assessments was conducted in our London office and then posted to the hotels, along with an electronic copy. The hotels received their Risk Assessments within two weeks of completion of the work onsite, which satisfies both our company standards and the client’s urgent timescale.
What we can do for you
We believe that this case study demonstrates our commitment to customer service. H2O Chemicals is able to offer value of service through the following means:
- providing an urgent response
- keeping costs to a minimum by flexible travel arrangements
- working to a schedule agreed with the customer
- venturing outside our usual geographical area in order to meet the client’s needs
- providing a quality document
Our Risk Assessments are conducted by highly qualified staff that have both the experience and the training necessary to accurately analyse varying water systems. H2O Chemicals ‘traffic light’ recommendation system identifies any potential Legionella risks and classifies them in order of importance. An account manager will go through the findings of the Risk Assessment with the site responsible person to discuss what remedial work needs to be conducted on site in order to eliminate the identified risks as far as is reasonably practicable. H2O Chemicals has a history of excellent customer service and is thoroughly committed to this cause.
