The manufacturing firm produces all kinds of food products and employs nearly 20,000 people at 60 different sites across the country.
Our Relationship
Our Account Manager developed a close relationship with contacts at the plant and was shocked by the existing water treatment company’s level of service.
He discovered that the client’s current service provider was failing to proactively manage the account. It is important that water treatment service providers are proactive in their approach, for example by recommending improvements and acting on these quickly to ensure compliance with the ACoP L8 is met as soon as possible.
He also discovered that dosing equipment onsite was many years, if not decades, out of date, and that technicians onsite had been conducting tank cleans without the necessary Confined Space training or the correct equipment.
What we did
Once we had been awarded this contract, our Account Manager immediately organised his team of technicians to identify areas of the water treatment and water hygiene programme that could be improved.
The following steps were taken:-
- The cleaning schedule was planned in close conjunction with the site contacts. It is important that water treatment contractors work in close conjunction with the client to plan cleaning schedules to avoid disruption of production plant at peak times, for example.
- We ensured that all technicians arriving at site had been inducted in advance and had the necessary training and equipment so that the cleaning schedule could run smoothly
- We recommended operating the towers at six cycles rather than two
- We upped levels of service reporting
- We ensured that health and safety was a priority so that when an accident did occur on site, a member of our Senior Management Team was attending carrying out a site safety audit. This proactive management meant we were able to recommend further steps to our client to increase their levels of safety further
- We installed a new Webmaster dosing system which brought their dosing requirements into the 21st Century and ensured that bromine levels were more tightly controlled
- We proved that we are commercially and technically competitive with larger competitors and we proved that other water treatment companies don’t always have everything under control
These alterations resulted in an annual saving of over £10,000 per annum for our client.
